No matter what kind of dance you may enjoy, Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago’s Dance Company has you covered.

From hip hop to ballet to body percussion, BGCC’s Dance Company focuses on providing performance opportunities for its members, ages 6-18. These members are encouraged to use movement and collaboration as a form of creative self-expression.

The first performance for the BGCC Dance Company was at this year’s Youth of the Year Competition and Dinner. In collaboration with five Clubs and 28 dancers, the BGCC Dance Company performed three different dances throughout the evening.

And that’s just the beginning. BGCC has already started renovating dance studios at several Clubs, including the just-finished studio at the James R. Jordan Boys & Girls Club.

“It’s incredibly important we offer a program for our kids that is inclusive for all skill levels and types of dances,” Kortnee Quiza, BGCC’s Arts Program Manager. “With social media's influence on more dance styles, we can’t wait to expand this program to more kids and provide them with opportunities to truly express themselves creatively.”

BGCC’s Dance Company is currently being run at five Clubs across the city, with plans to expand to more Clubs in the coming months.
