Below is a list of opportunities from September-December shared by Clubs that explain how your group or company can make an an even greater impact through volunteer engagements. Please refer to the FAQ’s on the previous page for additional information. If you looking for opportunities to get involved with Clubs from September-December, those opportunities will become available to view in mid-late August.


As a reminder, BGCC graciously requests that A Club For Life partners donate programmatic costs for each engagement.

Non-ACFL partners are invited to make a significant impact by donating programmatic costs for each engagement, along with a mutually agreed-upon contribution to support the Club's transformative efforts within the community. These programmatic costs include program supplies and essential background check expenses ($100 per volunteer) that ensure the safety and integrity of our volunteer engagements.

Description: To celebrate Halloween, the Pedersen-McCormick Club is seeking volunteers to help decorate several areas of the Club to make it a more fun and festive environment for the Club members.

Requested Programmatic Donation: Between $500--$1,500 to allow the Club to purchase new decorations and materials for the Club.

Thursday, October 3 | The Arts - Visual Arts | Jordan Club

Description: BGCC's Arts programs are designed to foster creativity in young people, and give them outlets for self-expression. These small group sessions involve the use of visual elements like colors shapes and textures to make artwork that can be seen and touched. The Club exposes members to these elements and supports them along their journey of exploring drawing, painting, sculpture and pastels to create pictures or objects that tell stories about joyful events, experience or connections. Volunteers would work alongside Club members and supporting the staff with facilitating the afternoon lesson. The Club members will be building towards creating art that would be showcased at the Club's Kwanza Celebration in December or potentially be submitted to the National Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Arts Contest.

Friday, October 11, 18 or 25 | Teen Night "Sip and Paint" | McCartin Club

Description: The McCartin Club is seeking a partner to support with their Teen Night "Sip and Paint" on a mutually agreed upon Friday in October.  The Club teens will take paint while sipping on soda's and snacks and volunteers are needed to help faciltiate the project alongside the Club teens.

Saturday, October 12 | Floor Hockey Tournament | Jordan Club

Description: BGCC's Sports programs offer a variety of organized sports at no additional cost to Club members where they get to join their Club team, learn a new skill and participate in a league and capstone tournament. In partnership with the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation, BGCC will be hosting a Floor Hockey tournament with several Clubs and could benefit from additional helping hands to support with serving food, operating scoreboards and facilitating additional activities to keep Club members engaged throughout the day.

Mon, October 14 - Wed, November 15  | Family Soccer Night | True Value Club

Description: On a select Monday or Wednesday night between 10/14-11/15 the True Value Club is seeking a partner to provide volunteers that can help create a special family night during the Club's Fall soccer league. The Club is looking to create a special night to celebrate the Club families as over 100 youth and parents/guardians visit the Club on Soccer League nights. With the support of a partner, we can create a photobooth w/ a fun backdrop and have volunteers serve food to Club families. Club families will not only enjoy a great night of soccer, but a fun family night enjoying food and take fun photos!

Thursday, October 24 or 31 | Haunted House and Halloween Carnival | Pedersen-McCormick Club

Description: To celebrate Halloween, the Pedersen-McCormick Club is hosting a Haunted House and Halloween Carnival for the Club members and would benefit from a partner to enhance the experience for the Club members. Volunteers would facilitate Halloween Carnival stations including face painting, tattoos, several game tables, an arts & crafts table, Halloween bag and candy distribution table, and photo booth.

Monday, October 28 | I Am A Reader "Halloween" | Park Manor Club

Description: I Am A Reader is Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago's Early Literacy Program that works with elementary age youth throughout the year providing Club members with the foundational reading skills they need to become successful learners in a fun and engaging manner. Volunteers would take part in the reading activity accompanied by a fun hands-on craft reinforcing the lesson and content shared in the story. The Club plans to read a Halloween themed book followed by a pumpkin craft activity for the youth.

Description: To celebrate Halloween, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Club is hosting a Halloween Carnival for the Club members and would benefit from a partner to enhance the experience for the Club members by sponsoring meals, candy and Halloween decor for the Club.

NOVEMBER 2024

Early/Late November | Thanksgiving Basket Distribution | Pedersen-McCormick Club

Description: The Pedersen-McCormick Club hosts an annual Thanksgiving Basket Distribution to Club families which includes a box of several traditional Thanksgiving food items, recipe cards and a frozen turkey. The Club distributes between 75-100 boxes to Club families and is seeking a partner to join Club members in stuffing the boxes and distributing to Club families the following day.

 
Number of Volunteers: There are different volunteer needs for each engagement date.


Packing Date: 10-15 Volunteers
Distribution Date: 3-5, less volunteers are needed to distribute the items to families but this can discussed further.


Date(s): There are two dates for this project, the packing event date AND the distribution date. The packing date will be a Thursday to be immediately followed the next day by a distribution date to Club families.

Select Weeks in November | Torch Club "Chicago History" | McCartin Club

Description: Torch Club is Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago's small group character and leadership program for youth ages 11-13. In Torch Club, participants develop and strengthen their 21st-century leadership skills, giving them a firm foundation of good character and integrity. The McCartin Club's Torch Club leaders will be planning and presenting Chicago History topics to fellow Club members and seeks partners to join the group on select weeks to enhance their presentations and activities.

Friday, November 1 | I Am A Reader "Dia De Los Muertos" | Linda and Bill Gantz Club

Description: I Am A Reader is Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago's Early Literacy Program that works with elementary age youth throughout the year providing Club members with the foundational reading skills they need to become successful learners in a fun and engaging manner. Volunteers would take part in the reading activity accompanied by a fun hands-on craft reinforcing the lesson and content shared in the story. The Club plans to read a Dia De Los Muertos themed book followed by a craft activity for the youth. It is strongly preferred if the volunteers are identify as Latinx and/or are Spanish speaking.

Description: The CC's Little Village Club located in the heart of the Little Village community hosts an annual Dia De Los Muertos Celebration at the Club. This celebration remembers and pays homage to loved ones who have passed. The Club hosts a variety of activities from themed crafts, cooking, games and activities that volunteers can support with.

Description: The McCartin Club in the Bridgeport neighborhood plans to offer a "Friendsgiving" to the Club members this fall and is searching for a partner to enhance the experience by helping serve the food, supply and create decorations and potentially facilitate additional activities during the meal with Club members

Week of November 18-22 | MLK Speech Competition Mentor | Jordan and King Club

Description: Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago's Spoken Word Program works with middle and high school age youth throughout the year amplifying their voice, exploring their identity and developing self-awareness, communication skills, and self-confidence. Volunteers would work alongside the young people building to serve as a mentor to help build their confidence to deliver a speech for an MLK Oratorical Contest.

Description: The True Value Club has a strong teen population and each year they host an annual Teen Thanksgiving Potluck. Volunteers can help set up for an annual/holiday Teen Thanksgiving Potluck! Volunteers can help set up tables, decor and then help serve food and engage the youth and potentially facilitate a fun game of Loteria for prizes following the dinner.

Description: BGCC's Flag Football program includes several Clubs and the Tournament is the capstone moment of the League where a BGCC Club champion will be crowned. Volunteers will help operate scoreboards and support with food distribution.

Early December | Decorating for Holiday Dance Recital | True Value Club

Description: The True Value Club's Holiday Dance Recital is a special event enjoyed by over 200 parents, youth, and other family members! The Club is seeking a partner's support to decorate the auditorium to fit the theme of the Dance Recital during this wonderful holiday season. Volunteers will be able to divide into small groups to focus on different sections of the auditorium to add color, lights, and lots of great decor/props. This will stay up for the entire holiday season so the community can enjoy.

Select Weeks in December | Torch Club "Chicago History | McCartin Club

Description: Torch Club is Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago's small group character and leadership program for youth ages 11-13. Early December | Ornament Decoration and MSI Trip | McCartin Club

Description: In anticipation of the holiday season, the McCartin Club is seeking a partner and volunteers to offer support providing supplies and funds for the Club to create ornaments with the help of volunteers inspired by a field trip of 40-50 youth to the Museum of Science and Industry's Christmas Around the World exhibit.

 
Number of Volunteers: 5-8 Volunteers. There is not an expectations for volunteers to attend the MSI trip.

Time: 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM


Requested Programmatic Donation: Between $1,000-$1,500 to purchase tickets for nearly 40-50 youth and staff, the bus to the MSI and supplies for the ornament creation back at the Club.

Description: In advance of the major December holidays, the CC's Little Village Club is seeking support to help decorate the Club to make it a fun and festive environment for the upcoming holiday.

Description: To celebrate the holidays, the Pedersen-McCormick Club is seeking volunteers to help decorate several areas of the Club to make it a more fun and festive environment for the Club members.

Mid-December | I Am A Reader "Santa Readers" | Several Clubs

Description: I Am A Reader is Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago's Early Literacy Program that works with elementary age youth throughout the year providing Club members with the foundational reading skills they need to become successful learners in a fun and engaging manner. Volunteers would take part in the reading activity accompanied by a fun hands-on craft reinforcing the lesson and content shared in the story. The Club is seeking partners who can provide their own Santa Costume and facilitate the reading of holiday themed books. Additional volunteers can help serve hot coco, cookies and facilitate holiday fun!


Number of Volunteers: 5-7 Volunteers

Description: To celebrate the joyful holiday season, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Club is seeking a partner to enhance their holiday celebration  who has the capacity to sponsor a meal to Clubs members, feeding over 100 youth, and to support with the gift distribution and holiday crafts and games.

 
Number of Volunteers: 0 Volunteers. The Club is seeking a partner to sponsor this experience for the Club.
