Kenya M. - McCartin Family Service Award Recipient!
The 2022 Youth of the Year event featured the announcement of the third annual McCartin Family Service Award recipient.
This award was made possible through the generosity of Bart McCartin and Katie Sakach, recognizes one outstanding Boys & Girls Club of Chicago member and helps provide the financial support to achieve their dreams.
The recipient is awarded based on nominations received from Club staff who bear witness to the young person’s commitment to service, hard work and excellence at their Club.
This year’s recipient was Kenya M. from the Jordan Boys & Girls Club!
Kenya is a senior at Chicago Bulls College Prep. She has been a Club member since the 6th grade. Kenya has participated in nearly every Jordan Club program, helps recruit new teens to the Club, and has volunteered countless hours over the years.
Kenya is a role model for the younger girls in her Club. As the youngest of her siblings she gives a lot of herself. Kenya has never let obstacles derail her plans for the future – she uses them as her motivation to succeed.
Kenya plans to major in nursing next year. She is deciding between attending Morgan State University, Western Illinois University, or Clark Atlanta University.
Kenya will receive a $10,000 scholarship to support her educational pursuits. Congratulations, Kenya!
