“The past year has been a total whirlwind of fun, exciting opportunities for me as BGCC’s Youth of the Year. I did multiple television interviews, and it was an amazing experience. I’m currently a high school junior and exploring colleges, with a career goal of becoming a social worker. I’m just one of the many kids who has had life-changing experiences at the Club, but I speak for all of us when I say thank you.” – Sammantha C. 

MARCH 2021 

Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago's live-streamed virtual Youth of the Year Competition was a resounding success! Nearly 500 guests watched the March 4 event, hosted by BGCC board member and WGN anchor, Micah Materre. Six remarkable finalists (including, Claudia D., Mariana M., Samantha B., Sammantha C., Trinity E. and Yanelli C.) presented powerful speeches, the culmination of a months-long application and preparation process.
