For the second straight year, youth from 12 BGCC Clubs participated in STEM – or science, technology, engineering, and math – sessions at Truman College of the City Colleges of Chicago. The program is part of the STEAMbassadors program, which pairs our 10-13-year-old Club members with college mentors to engage in a curriculum focused on expanding their horizons in their understanding of STEM.

Throughout the summer, they coded LEGO robots, created objects using 3D printing, showed their creative side with digital arts through animation, explored how science is used in sports, and learned how to create music by using computer code.

The summer sessions culminated in a STEM showcase at the college, where Club members competed against each other in mini-competitions highlighting the skills they developed alongside their mentors.

A big thank you to our remarkable partners, including Driskill Foundation, for continuing to invest in our STEM programs at our Clubs and supporting activities like STEAMbassadors.
